Event Preview
The competitive action on the DP World Tour continues this weekend ahead of the start of the U.S. Open next Thursday. The KLM Open, or Dutch Open, has been staged since 1912, making it one of the oldest events on the European Tour. For the second straight year, it will be staged at The International in Amsterdam.
Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen will be the top choice in the betting this weekend, despite the star missing out on the cut at the Austrian Open last time out. That could mean that the 25-year-old is a slightly weak favorite, and it could be worth overlooking him.
Joost Luiten also missed the cut at the Austrian Open last weekend, but the Dutchman has excellent previous course form at The International. Luiten is a two-time winner at the KLM Open, with his latest success coming following a playoff against Miguel Angel Jimenez.
Thriston Lawrence is an interesting contender this weekend after turning his attention to action on the DP World Tour after disappointing outings on the PGA Tour. Haotong Li has enjoyed an excellent season, and he also isn’t likely to be that far away in Amsterdam.
KLM Open Picks
Ewen Ferguson could be an interesting selection this weekend. The Scotsman couldn’t have been closer to victory on his latest effort after falling in the playoff at the Soudal Open.
Ferguson has been in consistent form throughout the season, also achieving a top 20 finish in the Indian Open and making the cuts in the China Open and Turkish Airlines Open.
