Event Preview
The final major on the golf schedule for 2025 is staged on the LPGA Tour this weekend, as the best players in the world compete at the AIG Women’s Open in Wales. A competitive betting heat is set for the event, as players bid to join the plethora of greats by winning one of the five majors on the women’s tour.
Lottie Woad has been the big market mover over the last seven days, as the English star’s emergence on the global stage is hard to ignore. The 21-year-old stormed to success at last weekend’s Scottish Open, landing victory by a three-shot margin after shooting four-under in the final round. Woad finished in a share of tenth at The Open last year, and was T3 at The Evian Championship last month.
Lydia Ko is another player of note this weekend after winning the Women’s Open last year. That was the third time that she has finished in the top ten at the event, and she has missed the cut on just two occasions since making her debut at the major in 2012.
Meanwhile, U.S. hopes are likely to hinge on Nelly Korda this weekend. The American is a two-time major champion, with her latest success coming at the Chevron Championship in 2024. Korda is yet to win the Open, but she was an excellent T2 in the event last year.
AIG Women’s Open Picks
Charley Hull could be a player flying under the radar this weekend. The English player finished as the runner-up in the Women’s Open in 2023, and she has saved herself for this event after bypassing The Evian Championship last month. Hull also arrives in steady form after finishing five-under for a share of 21st at last weekend’s Scottish Open.
