How Does the WTA Finals Work?
Unlike other events on the WTA Tour, the finals works slightly differently. The first six days of competition will see each player compete with the other three stars in their group.
The top two players from each group will progress through to the semi-final stage, before the winners of each of the semi-finals collide in the final on Saturday, November 8.
Who Are The Leading WTA Finals Contenders?
Aryna Sabalenka is the obvious contender to win the competition this year after winning the U.S. Open and reaching the finals in both the Australian and French Opens. No player on the WTA Tour have accumulated more points than the top-ranked player, as Sabalenka is also a two-time winner in WTA 1000 events in 2025.
Iga Swiatek’s form has been slightly overlooked throughout the season, reaching the final four in two Grand Slam events and landing success at Wimbledon. The Pole is also a one-time winner of a WTA 1000 event in 2025, and is the closest rival to Sabalenka based on the points accumulated this calendar year.
It has been a slightly disappointing campaign for Coco Gauff throughout 2025. Aside from her French Open success, the American failed to make her presence felt in Grand Slam events, falling at the quarterfinal stage of the Australian Open and failing to reach at least the last eight at either Wimbledon or the U.S. Open.
Elena Rybakina has been a standout player in the WTA Finals throughout recent memory, and she continues to be one of the most consistent stars in the world. Rybakina has won two WTA 500 events this calendar year, and has reached three semi-finals in WTA 1000 events.
WTA Finals Pick
Amanda Anisimova has been a star who is deserving of a big win at this level. She reached the finals of two Grand Slam events this season, and was the winner of two WTA 1000 events. The American has already made a reliable start to the tournament after winning one of her two matches, and she could present the value in the betting at this stage.
