  • Following his release by the Dolphins, Tyreek Hill’s next team will boil down to several Super Bowl contenders and teams that portray themselves as such
  • Although Hill is recovering from a serious knee injury, his past NFL-best speed is enticing
  • There’s an assumption that he’ll simply return to the Chiefs, but that is not assured
  • Where might he land?

Will Hill Fully Recover From His Knee Injury?

Hill suffered about as bad a knee injury as possible when he tore his ACL and dislocated his knee when Miami hosted the Jets in Week 4.

According to USA Today, his rehab will take up to a year from the date of surgery, which took place on Sept. 30, 2025. In a best-case scenario, he could be ready for training camp.

Any team signing him would be well-served to make sure he’s as close to 100% healthy as possible before activating him so his primary attribute — blazing speed — can be fully weaponized.

Tareek Hill’s Most Likely Landing Spots

Kansas City Chiefs

At first glance, this seems like the most obvious choice. That is especially true with KC bringing back their former offensive coordinator from when Hill was the centerpiece of their offense, Eric Bieniemy.

They’re obviously functioning under the perception that 2025 was an injury-plagued anomaly and was not due to the team’s nucleus decaying after playing what amounted to an extra full season during its annual run to the Super Bowl or close to it.

Travis Kelce has still not announced his plans for the coming season, but the closer it gets to OTAs, the likelier it is that he’ll play one more year.

Is a reunion between Hill and the Chiefs in the cards? KC has shown an affinity for bringing back past stars who had issues elsewhere, particularly Kareem Hunt.

It’s a possibility, but not a guarantee.

Los Angeles Chargers

Former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is the Chargers’ new offensive coordinator. Had Tua Tagovailoa come close to being what he was expected to be and stayed healthy, then Hill would have been an even bigger weapon with Miami.

From the Chargers’ perspective, they desperately need a home run threat downfield. Their top receiver in 2025, Keenan Allen, will be 34 in April and is a free agent. He appears inclined to return.

Their #2 receiver, Ladd McConkey is more of a possession receiver with a flair for the dramatic.

A healthy talent like Hill is what they’re missing. QB Justin Herbert would love to have a target like Hill, who would allow him to use his howitzer arm to throw a deep strike.

Buffalo Bills

Their current top receiver, Khalil Shakir, is probably more suited to being a #2. Owner Terry Pegula raked former 1st round pick Keon Coleman in the press conference discussing head coach Sean McDermott’s dismissal. Josh Allen could assuredly use Hill.

Since 2026 is looking like Super Bowl or bust for the Bills, going after Hill is a step in that direction if he’s healthy.

Dallas Cowboys

Two words: Jerry Jones.

Chicago Bears

The Bears’ leading receiver in 2025 was tight end Colton Loveland. Hill would be a critical component in head coach Ben Johnson’s innovative offense and would give QB Caleb Williams that superstar pass-catcher who could help them reach the next level after a rapid rise to the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

Hill Might Not Sign Until the Summer

Given the nature of Hill’s injury and that he’s in the middle of an extensive rehab, he is under no urgency to sign immediately. That means after the draft and after free agency. By then, it will be clearer as to who needs what and whether Hill is a fit.

Regardless, he’s going to get a lucrative deal from a contender. If the Cheetah retains his game-breaking speed, he could be a major difference-maker in helping a team reach its ultimate goal.
