NFL 2025: New York Giants Over/Under For Wins

• For the 2025 NFL season, oddsmakers have the New York Giants’ over-under wins at 5.5
• New York was 3-14 in 2024 and is still mired in a slow rebuild
• Veteran quarterback Russell Wilson was signed, and they selected Jaxson Dart in the first round of the 2025 draft
• They have some good pieces, but unless progress is evident on the field, GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll could be in trouble

The Giants Are Staying the Course and Have New QBs

In GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll’s first season in 2022, the Giants made the playoffs as a Wild Card and advanced to the Divisional Round. It was the team’s first season above .500 and playoff appearance since 2016.

In 2023-24, the Giants accrued a record of 9-25. Owner John Mara resisted the temptation and outside pressure to start over again with a new front office and head coach. Schoen and Daboll were brought back. Now, they have a veteran quarterback in Russell Wilson and a young QB in Jaxson Dart.

They also signed Jameis Winston. Tommy DeVito is still on the roster.

Dart has a cannon for an arm and is showing his outgoing personality in training camp. The Giants are playing it safe in naming Wilson the Week 1 starter. Winston is insurance, but the organization still seems to like DeVito, and carrying four quarterbacks does not make much sense.

The Giants Had a Solid Draft and Have Some Good Pieces

Aside from the understandable frustration over the past two seasons and the doom and gloom negativity for 2025, the Giants have the building blocks of a contending team.

In the 2025 draft, they took linebacker Abdul Carter third overall out of Penn State. Carter was an All-American, had 12 sacks, and led the FBS in tackles for loss with 24.

Their first-round draft pick from 2024, wide receiver Malik Nabers, caught 109 balls and made the Pro Bowl. Tyrone Tracy Jr., a fifth-round pick who converted from wide receiver to running back in college, rushed for 839 yards and caught 38 passes out of the backfield. Linebacker Brian Burns had 8.5 sacks.

They signed ball-hawking cornerback Paulson Adebo away from the Saints, safety Jevon Holland from the Dolphins, offensive tackle James Hudson from the Browns, and defensive linemen Roy Robertson-Harris and Chauncey Golston away from the Seahawks and Cowboys, respectively.

The Schedule is Somewhat Difficult

In the NFC East, they play the Eagles, Commanders, and Cowboys twice each. At home, they host the Chiefs, Chargers, 49ers, Packers, and Vikings. On the road, they play the Saints, Broncos, Bears, Lions, Patriots, and Raiders.

Giants Over/Under For Wins

No one can say with any authority that they know what Mara’s intentions are if the Giants have another poor season. The moves they made are indicative of a team that is still building for the future. There have been no implied threats or statements that the GM’s or the head coach’s jobs are in immediate jeopardy.

Signing Wilson could have been seen as a desperation move if they didn’t draft the QB who they believe will be their next long-term starter, Dart. It’s a similar decision to the one they made when they signed Kurt Warner to start ahead of rookie Eli Manning.

However, they did try to sign Matthew Stafford and offered him more money than what he eventually took to remain with the Rams.

The safe presumption is that the Giants need to show improvement and competence. That might not necessarily show up in the standings. But if they are a non-competitive embarrassment as they were at times in 2023-24, then it does not bode well for Schoen or Daboll.

However, things have gone so badly for the Giants in recent years that they are due for some good fortune. With that, they will win more than 5.5 games.
