Wednesday’s WNBA postseason slate features the Phoenix Mercury hosting the Las Vegas Aces in Game 3 of this Finals matchup. Who has the edge in our Mercury vs Aces pick?
Phoenix vs Las Vegas Game 3 Preview
Following a narrow 89-86 loss in Game 1, the Mercury were hoping to send the series back to Phoenix tied at one game apiece. But after a 27-24 lead through the first 10 minutes of action, the Mercury were outscored 52-34 over the middle two quarters, which propelled the Aces to a 13-point win.
Kahleah Copper was one of two 20-point scorers for Phoenix. She finished with 23 points and three rebounds on 9-for-18 shooting overall and a 3-for-8 effort from beyond the arc. Satou Sabally finished with 22 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Jackie Young powered the Aces’ scoring attack with 32 points and eight rebounds on 60 percent shooting from the field. Young also set a finals record with 21 points in the third quarter. A’ja Wilson registered 28 points, 14 rebounds, and three assists.
The Aces’ defense held Phoenix to 40.8 percent shooting and 17.9 percent from deep. Can they duplicate that effort as the venue shifts to Phoenix, or will the Mercury respond with a victory on their home floor?
