Can someone explain to me what a "parlay" is in sports betting, in layman's terms?

Someone correct me if I am wrong. A parlay in sports betting is essentially a way to combine multiple bets into one bigger bet. Instead of placing separate bets on different games or outcomes, you roll them all into one ticket. But there is a catch. You need to get EVERY SINGLE prediction right. If just one part of your parlay loses, the entire bet loses. I thing there were in the site explained better , for example for Basketball: What is a First Basket Parlay?

@vortex Sounds correct to me, I was reading up about it last night. I guess in theory if you have a few ongoing 'easy' bets with a high probability of hitting (which likely won't payout much), it'll be more lucrative to link them up for a higher potential reward.
