EA Sports College Football 25 was a long time coming, with over 10 years separating the latest release and it’s predecessor College Football 14. A mix of nostalgia and longing contributed to this being one of the more highly-anticipated sports video game releases in recent years. Where the Madden series is clearly aimed at the younger demographic, College football appealed to many “retired” gamers who have been disconnected from the gaming world in recent years and strong sales were expected.

There are clearly mixed feelings around the final product with multiple bugs reported and many gamers left feeling underwhelmed, but that’s par for the course when dealing with EA. What is unusual with this game is that betting markets have taken an interest in the sales figures, with BetOnline offering an over/under market based on 3.5 million sales in the fiscal year between April 1, 2024, and April 2, 2025.

What makes this market even more interesting is that there are some general figures in the media which give an indication of how popular the game has been. Interestingly the previous edition College Football 2014 sold an estimated 1.5 million final copies, while 500k players are estimated to have played the EA play trial of the new release.

On top of this there are online sources claiming that College Football 25 has already tripled the sales of the previous best selling game (believed to be College Football 07). Data for that release may be unreliable but there are suggestions that 07 sold 1.4 million copies, while we haven’t even had a potentially sales boom around the holiday period where bowl games and the playoffs are also likely to attract additional interest.

There are no official sales figures available at this stage, but if the rumblings are true and given that there are still some prime selling months ahead, the over 3.5 million bet looks like excellent value.
