World Cup Group K Teams

Portugal

Portugal head the Group Winner betting for the World Cup in Group K. The European nation will be led into the tournament by Roberto Martinez, with the main aim of delivering Cristiano Ronaldo a first World Cup success. After finishing second in last year’s Nations League, Portugal cruised throughout qualification, and their momentum has continued this year following a straightforward win over the United States.

Martinez’s side is stacked with world-class talent, including arguably the world’s best left-back, number ten, and central midfielders in Nuno Mendes, Bruno Fernandes, and Vitinha, respectively. There are goals in every position of this team, and they are well-stocked to go very deep this summer.  

DR Congo

DR Congo will be playing in their second World Cup, but their first as an independent nation. The African team won nine of their 13 qualification matches. However, they showed limitations at both ends of the field, scoring just 18 goals and allowing seven.

Their shortcomings at the top level of the sport were evident at AFCON earlier this year, as they crashed out in the round of 16. Major stars such as Yoane Wissa and Cedric Bakambu will be crucial, but both strikers are battling back from injuries after stuttering campaigns for Newcastle and Real Betis, respectively.

Uzbekistan

It could be argued that Uzbekistan are one of the most interesting teams involved in Group K. Led by 2006 World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro, the White Wolves became the first Central Asian team to ever qualify for the competition last year. They were difficult to beat throughout qualification, and their spot at the World Cup was achieved following a win over Qatar last June.

They have already competed to a high standard against Uruguay over the last 12 months, while wins over Egypt and Gabon show their attacking quality. At huge odds, they could upset a few nations in Group K. 

Colombia

Colombia will be back at the World Cup this summer after missing the last edition of the competition. The South American nation showed their quality in qualification, finishing third in the standings after avoiding defeat in 14 of their 17 fixtures.

A return to form will be required this summer following defeats against Croatia and France in the March internationals. Luis Diaz will be their main player after registering a staggering 29 goal involvements in 32 league matches for Bayern Munich last season.
