World Cup Group F Teams

Netherlands

Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands will be favored to win Group F this summer. The Dutch made their return to the World Cup with a run to the quarterfinals in 2022, while progression continued after reaching the semi-finals at EURO 2024. Holland qualified for the World Cup in excellent style after winning six of their eight matches, while they have continued to build this year following a win against Norway and a draw against Ecuador.

Experienced defenders such as Virgil van Dijk and Stefan de Vrij will be integral to their chances, with the Dutch keeping clean sheets in two of their last five. Doyell Malen’s pace on the counter-attack could be crucial after scoring 14 in 18 Serie A appearances for AS Roma last season.

Japan

Japan will be a neutral selection to win the World Cup this season, with their passionate fans likely to create an incredible backdrop for all of their fixtures. The Asian nation have performed excellently at recent editions of the tournament, reaching the round of 16 in 2018 and 2022. They encountered few issues during qualification, winning 13 of their 16 fixtures, and scoring a remarkable 54 goals.

However, it could be argued that their performances have reached new heights in 2026, beating Scotland before recording a historic win at Wembley against England. They were one of my dark horse chances, but an injury to Kaoru Mitoma could leave them vulnerable in the final third of the field.

Sweden

It could be argued that Sweden are one of the most fortunate teams to have reached the World Cup after failing to win in six of their eight qualifying matches. However, Graham Potter’s side were able to recapture their best form in the playoffs, beating Ukraine and Poland to secure their berth in this summer’s competition.

Anthony Elanga will provide a pacey option on the wing, while how Potter manages to fit in both Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres into his starting eleven will be fascinating. There is certainly talent within the squad, but their poor defensive record is a notable concern in a group where the winning margins will be slim.

Tunisia

Tunisia will be making their third straight appearance at the World Cup, and their eighth overall. However, they are yet to get further than the group stage. The African nation were dominant in qualification, winning nine of their ten matches, and scoring 22 goals without conceding.

Expectations will be low this summer following a damaging AFCON, failing to win in three of their four fixtures before exiting in the round of 16. Scoring goals has been a major issue for the nation this year, netting just once in two fixtures against Haiti and Canada.

World Cup Group F Winner Picks

The Netherlands are a good example of European nations being over-bet in the World Cup. Japan will need to deal with injuries, but if they can match the performance levels they produced to beat Brazil and England, they could easily top Group F this summer.
