The Dodgers are back on a roll, having won 7 of their first 9 games. Now they head back to Toronto, where they clinched the 2025 World Series against the Blue Jays.
Lefty Jacob Wrobleski makes his second appearance and first start of 2026. He took the loss after throwing 4 innings against the Guardians. He allowed 3 earned runs, walked 1, and struck out 2.
Wrobleski had some drama with the Blue Jays in Game 7 of the World Series after hitting Andres Gimenez with a pitch.
LA's Mookie Betts continues to struggle at the plate, batting .179. Andy Pages is still scorching at .471. Shohei Ohtani has not fully gotten going yet, batting .273 with an .880 OPS and 2 homers. But a hot streak is inevitable.
Against Jays starter Max Scherzer, Freddie Freeman is 12 for 58 with 3 homers. Ohtani is 5 for 10 with 2 doubles and a home run. Miguel Rojas is 10 for 39 with 3 doubles and a home run. Kyle Tucker is 1 for 11 with 3 walks and 3 K's.
The Blue Jays try to rebound against the world champions after having been swept by the White Sox and a loss to the Rockies. Max Scherzer, 41, takes the mound.
In his first start of the season against the Rockies, Scherzer tossed 6 innings, allowed 4 hits, 1 earned run, a homer, walked 1, and struck out 4. As long as he stays healthy, Scherzer's performance against the Rockies after an excellent spring training bodes well for him and Toronto.
Overall, the Blue Jays need to get their act together. The defending AL champs with Toronto's star power should not be getting swept by the White Sox.
George Springer is off to a woeful start batting .158 with 2 homers. Addison Barger is batting .053. Daulton Varsho is at .172.
However, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is hitting .290 with a .436 on-base percentage. Newcomer Kazuma Okamoto is hitting .235 with 2 homers.
The Jays have had little success against Wrobleski. Barger is 2 for 3 with 2 singles. Springer is 1 for 1 with a single.
Wrobleski is a swing starter and jack-of-all-trades for the Dodgers, so he probably won't be in the game all that long. Will the bad blood from the World Series spill over again? That was a big moment and everyone was on edge, so it's difficult to envision a renewal of hostilities.
Toronto will be in a foul mood after being swept by the White Sox and 4 straight losses. Beating LA would to be "revenge" for the World Series loss, but it would certainly make them feel better. Scherzer has been solid and should hold the Dodgers down while Toronto knocks Wrobleski around.
