In his first start of the season against the Cardinals, Drew Rasmussen threw 5 innings, allowed 4 hits, and 1 earned run. He had his career-best season in 2025, posting a 4.4 bWAR with a 10-5 record in 31 starts, allowing 116 hits in 150 innings, walking 37, and striking out 127. He was an All-Star and finished 9th in the AL Cy Young Award voting.
The only Brewers batter Jacob Misiorowski has faced is Ben Williamson. He's 0 for 1.
Several Rays have gotten off to scorching starts at the plate, including catcher Nick Fortes, 1st baseman Jonathan Aranda, Williamson, Jonny DeLuca, and Yandy Diaz.
While Jacob Misiorowski's 2025 All-Star appearances was controversial and outright questionable since he'd only been in the majors a short time, there's no denying his talent.
Last season, he had a 0.5 bWAR with a 5-3 record and a 4.36 ERA. He struck out 87 in 66 innings and reached the triple digits with his fastball. He also pitched well in the playoffs, tossing 12 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 earned runs, walking 3, and striking out 16.
In his first start this season, he tossed 5 innings against the White Sox, gave up 2 hits, 1 earned run, a home run, 3 walks, and struck out 11.
Against Rasmussen, William Contreras is 1 for 2 with a home run. Christian Yelich is 1 for 2 with a home run. Jake Bauers is 3 for 6 with 3 singles and a walk.
Brice Turang is having a blazing start, batting over .400. Brandon Lockridge is also starting hot, batting above .350. Yelich is looking like he's back in MVP form with an OPS above 1.100.
This is a good pitching matchup with the consistent Rasmussen, whose career is on the upswing, facing the young stud Misiorowski.
The Brewers have been mashing this season, while the Rays have hit, but not as consistently. Both teams work counts and maximize their talent.
The Rays should come out on top in this one behind Rasmussen.
