WWE SummerSlam Picks, Odds, and Preview (Aug 2-3)

One of the biggest events on the WWE schedule is now a two-night event, with MetLife Stadium playing host to the first SummerSlam to be spread across an entire weekend. A WrestleMania rematch will headline the weekend-long action, as John Cena defends the WWE Undisputed title against Cody Rhodes. Find our SummerSlam picks for 2025 here.

SummerSlam 2025 Overview

John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes Odds & Picks

The main event on night two at SummerSlam this weekend will see John Cena defend the WWE Undisputed title against former champion Cody Rhodes. Rhodes earned the rematch after winning the King of the Ring Tournament, while Cena has successfully defended the gold against Randy Orton and CM Punk since Mania.

Cena’s retirement tour is now entering the second half of the year, and the WWE will look to turn the 17-time champion back into a good guy. This weekend presents the perfect opportunity, and we could see Rhodes winning the gold using heelish tactics.  

Gunther vs. CM Punk Odds & Picks

CM Punk will challenge for the Heavyweight title for the first time in over ten years this weekend, as he comes up against the dominant Gunther. Punk earned his spot in the match after a success in a Gauntlet match on Raw a few weeks ago, and the build on the Red brand has made for compelling viewing.

Gunther, now in his second reign as champion, has successfully defended the belt against Goldberg since beating Jey Uso to regain the belt. However, it could be argued that both of his world title runs have fallen flat.

Punk could get his big title win this weekend, but don’t be surprised to see a returning Seth Rollins immediately cash in his Money in the Bank contract.

Roman Reigns & Jey Uso vs. Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed Odds & Picks

Roman Reigns returns to the ring for the first time since being betrayed by Paul Heyman in the main event of WrestleMania Night One. Reigns was attacked by Bron Breakker on the Raw following Mania after he aligned with Heyman and Seth Rollins.

Bronson Reed later joined the faction, leading to the duo attacking Jey Uso on an episode of Raw in July. However, Reigns made a shocking return to make the save, before later chastising Heyman for his betrayal, leading to this tag match being made official.

However, there could be value in this betting market, as a first big tag match for Heyman’s new faction could see them going over to get the victory.
