New-Look Fever Seeking To Pull Off The Upset Against Defending Champs

Following a one-point loss against the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday night, the Fever salvaged the home-and-home split with an 81-76 victory over Atlanta on Thursday night.

Natasha Howard, who joined the team during the offseason, scored a team-high 26 points on 12-for-17 shooting from the floor. She also tallied seven rebounds, and two assists.

Kelsey Mitchell added 17 points and three rebounds, while Caitlin Clark chipped in with 11 points, six assists, and four rebounds.

Trailing 75-73 in the final frame, Mitchell knocked down a 3-pointer, giving Indiana a 76-75 lead. Then Aliyah Boston scored on a layup off a feed from Clark, extending the lead to 79-76.

Liberty Aiming For Third Straight Victory

Meanwhile, the Liberty enter this contest amid a two-game win streak following a 99-74 victory over the Chicago Sky on Thursday night.

Natasha Cloud was one of five players who reached double figures. She finished with 18 points, eight assists and four rebounds, connecting on four of her five attempts from 3-point range.

Kennedy Burke contributed 17 points off the bench. Sabrina Ionescu added 16 points and five assists for a Liberty squad that shot 55.2 percent overall and 55.9 percent from beyond the arc.

New York led 28-23 after the first quarter and 36-30 in the second quarter before closing the half with a 17-2 burst, giving the road team a 53-32 advantage at the break. Chicago did not get any closer than 13 points the rest of the way.

Fever vs Liberty Pick: Who Has The Edge In This Eastern Conference Showdown?

Indiana has the fourth-best offensive rating and is the top defensive team in the association. Meanwhile, New York is ranked third in both categories, which makes for an interesting matchup.

New York has won four of the previous five meetings in this series and each victory was by a double-digit margin. Given that trend, the Liberty will come out on top when these teams clash on Saturday afternoon.
