An eye-watering $1 billion purse has been offered to teams competing in this summer’s edition of the FIFA Club World Cup, meaning that there will be huge pressure on both LAFC and Club America for their playoff tie on May 31, 2025.
A playoff to determine the final spot in the competition was announced earlier this year, as Leon were deemed to have breached FIFA rules after their owners also have an association with Pachuca.
But, the Mexican club’s misery will lead to the gain of either LAFC or Club America.
