A third meeting between Anisimova and Sabalenka this calendar year is set for Saturday. The American was a winner in three sets when the stars collided at the semi-final stage at Wimbledon earlier this summer.

Match Preview

World number one Aryna Sabalenka will be a red-hot favorite to win a second US Open title on Saturday. Sabalenka has been consistent in Slams throughout this season, reaching the finals at the Australian and French Opens. Her dominance on the Tour deserves a success at the highest level.

Sabalenka dropped her first set at the US Open in the semi-final stage, but she showed excellent character to bounce back impressively to overcome Jessica Pegula. The top seed, recorded 72% on first serves, and accumulated eight aces.

Amanda Anisimova has been back to her very best this year, and an opportunity to put her heartbreaking Wimbledon defeat behind her arrives on Saturday. The American didn’t win a game in that clash, but her character deserves major respect after getting back on track to reach a second straight Grand Slam final.

The 24-year-old has battled through every round at Flushing Meadows, including in the semi-final stage on Thursday when battling back to beat Naomi Osaka in three sets. Despite struggles with her serve, she won a second-set tie break, before dropping just three games in the deciding third set.

Aryna Sabalenka vs. Amanda Anisimova Picks

We flagged Anisimova as one of our pre-tournament picks, and we really like her chances to put her Wimbledon defeat firmly in the past. The American deserves to finally get her moment in the sun after rising back through the rankings after rejoining the Tour a few years back. She has a winning record against Sabalenka, and that bodes well.
