The USMNT will be in action for the final time in March, with Mauricio Pochettino having one final opportunity to test players ahead of naming his World Cup squad against Portugal.
The USA have enjoyed a solid run of form, winning four of their last five matches at the end of 2025. Portugal easily booked their spot at the FIFA World Cup after finishing top of their qualification standings.
Tuesday’s fixture will be the first opportunity for Pochettino to look at players before naming his World Cup squad in early June.
The USMNT have performed to a high level in recent internationals, winning four of their last five, which includes an eye-catching 5-1 win over South American heavyweights Uruguay in November. America have won 60% of their internationals on home soil since the start of last year, scoring an impressive 1.9 goals per game.
However, they will need to improve defensively if they are to compete against the top-ranked nations, as the USMNT have allowed 1.20 goals per fixture.

Roberto Martinez’s Portugal were one of the most dominant teams in the qualification process, with their only defeat being suffered in Dublin against Ireland. However, the nation bounced back from that setback with a dominant 9-1 win over Armenia.
Portugal’s ability in tournament soccer can’t be dismissed ahead of this summer after winning the Nations League for the second time in 2025, landing the honor after beating Spain on penalties.
However, first-choice goalkeeper Diogo Costa is unavailable for the March internationals, and Cristiano Ronaldo has been rested.

It could be argued that Portugal perform to a higher standard without Ronaldo. Therefore, at the odds likely to be available this week, the high-ranking European nation could have too much for the USMNT.
