Potter to Mastermind Swedes Route to World Cup

The last 18 months have been a huge disappointment for Sweden, but there could yet be a light at the end of the tunnel. Sweden ended a six-game winless run in their playoff semi-final against Ukraine last week, with Arsenal star Viktor Gyokeres netting a stunning treble.

Despite his performance, the Swedes will still be without key first-team players this week, with both Alexander Isak and Dejan Kulusevski missing.

Home form has been troublesome for Sweden, as they have won just two of their last five in Stockholm, scoring 2.00 goals per game but allowing 1.6 per 90.

Poles Boast Experience at this Stage

Poland will be aiming to reach their third straight World Cup this week, with their best recent showing coming in 2022 after reaching the round of 16. The nation enjoyed a relatively strong qualification campaign, winning six of their nine matches, scoring 16 goals and conceding just eight.

Plenty of positives can be taken from their recent performances after avoiding defeat in their previous seven. Their spot in the playoff final was secured with a 2-1 home win over Albania last week.

Poland have been effective on the road, losing just once in their last four, and scoring an average of 1.75 goals per 90.

(3-4-3) Grabara (GK); Kedziora, Bednarek, Kiwior; Cash, Szymanski, Zielinski, Skoras; Kaminski, Lewandowski, Rozga
