Western Conference action is set for Children’s Mercy Park on March 7, as Sporting KC bid to snap their losing run in the MLS when they face the red-hot San Diego FC.

The visitors have impressively won back-to-back games to start their second season in the MLS, while Sporting have picked up just a single point from a possible six.

Winless Run to Stretch to Three?

It has been a below par start to the season for Raphael Wicky’s Sporting KC. The franchise have failed to win in their opening two matches in 2026.

However, they at least showed better defensive quality last weekend following a 3-0 loss against San Jose on the opening weekend. Last time out, Sporting played out a 2-2 draw against the Columbus Crew, with both of their goals in the tie being netted by Dejan Loveljic.

The striker will once again be key to their counter-attack game plan this Saturday.

They come into this round sitting top of the Western Conference standings after making a perfect start in 2026. San Diego have kept clean sheets in their last two MLS fixtures, while their attacking players have sparkled, with the franchise netting seven goals.

Anders Dreyer has been a notable standout, scoring in last weekend’s 2-0 win over St. Louis to take his tally for goal involvements this term to four.
