Newcastle Gunning for Revenge

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle ended a poor run of form in midweek after showing excellent character to beat Man United 2-1.

The Magpies have overcome a tough run of fixtures to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup, beating Bournemouth in the third-round and Aston Villa in the previous round. Interestingly, Newcastle have progressed from nine of their last ten ties in this stage of the competition.

But, they were eliminated by Brighton at this hurdle last term. Harvey Barnes could be a key player this weekend, as the winger has racked up five goal involvements in his last seven home starts in the FA Cup.

City Hoping to Bounce Back From Midweek Setback

Man City’s title aspirations were dented in midweek, as they could only play out a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest. Those dropped points mean that they now sit seven points behind Arsenal at the top of the Premier League.

City’s cup record this season has been strong, having already reached the final of the EFL Cup. In the FA Cup, Pep Guardiola’s side have scored 12 goals and conceded just once in wins over Exeter City and Salford City.

Guardiola’s record in the FA Cup is incredible, winning 18 of his last 20 fixtures in the competition, with his only defeats coming in finals against Man United and Crystal Palace.

(4-1-3-2) Trafford (GK); Nunes, Dias, Guehi, Ake; Rodri; Cherki, Silva, Foden; Semenyo, Haaland

Newcastle vs. Man City Picks

Man City have a very reliable record at St. James’ Park, winning on 15 of their last 28 visits. Therefore, we could see the visitors inflicting more misery on the Magpies in a domestic cup competition.
