It has been all change at the Theatre of Dreams this week, with Michael Carrick appointed interim head coach until the end of the season. His primary aim will be to achieve a top-five finish in the EPL standings.
Man City will be aiming to end a two-game drawing run in the Premier League at the home of their fiercest rivals, as they bid to close the gap on Arsenal at the top of the standings.

Things don’t get more challenging in terms of an introduction to life in the hot seat at Old Trafford than a home fixture against Man City. United’s patchy form has continued since Ruben Amorim’s departure.
The team’s misery was compounded on Sunday after suffering a third-round exit in the FA Cup at the hands of Brighton. The loss means that United will only play 40 games this season, which is their fewest in a single campaign in over 100 years.
Despite that, United have avoided defeat in their last four in the league, but each of their last three have ended in draws. AFCON stars Mbeumo and Amad will be available this weekend, while Fernandes and Mount are also back up to full fitness after featuring in the cup defeat last weekend.

Pep Guardiola’s Man City still have ambitions of winning the Premier League title this season. City sit six points off the Gunners, but they could cut the disadvantage in half with a win at Old Trafford.
Despite drawing their last two in the league, City have dominated in cup competitions in their last two, beating Exeter and Newcastle with ease. Semenyo has been a brilliant addition, and he has scored twice in as many games since moving from Bournemouth.
Foden is likely to be recalled this weekend, while Cherki could also be named in a front three behind Haaland. Defensive injuries would be a concern for Guardiola, as Dias, Stones, and Gvardiol are all unavailable.

United’s midfield is a major concern, as they have looked incredibly open since reverting to a 4-2-3-1 formation. City’s offensive quality in the middle of the field could put the Red Devils to the sword on Saturday, and a repeat of the 3-0 win in the first meeting between the teams in 2025-26 could be on the cards.
