Attack-Minded Cincinnati to Go All Guns Blazing in 2026
FC Cincinnati were one of the most exciting teams in the MLS last season, with Evander and Kevin Denkey combining for an eye-catching 33 goals.
Therefore, it is no surprise that much of the business completed during the off-season has focused on defensive reinforcements. Kyle Smith is a notable incoming player, having spent a long stint in the MLS with Orlando City. His ability to play in a number of positions across the backline will give the team flexibility.
Brenner’s departure will leave the team with questions to answer, as the forward scored 33 goals across two seasons with the club. The experienced Yuya Kubo has also departed after spending six seasons with the franchise.

Martino Returns to Atlanta
The big change at Atlanta United comes in the dog out, as 2018 MLS Cup-winning head coach Tata Martino has returned.
His biggest challenge will be to improve the team’s defensive record, while also getting the best out of club legend Miguel Almiron. Elias Baez’s arrival should help with the former, while Adrian Gill is a talented midfielder who will help the team dictate the pace of matches.
Lucas Hoyos is also an experienced goalkeeper to offer competition for Jayden Hibbert. He will likely be a direct replacement for legendary U.S. goalkeeper Brad Guzan, who retired at the end of the 2025 campaign.

Cincinnati vs. Atlanta Picks
This is a really interesting opening day encounter. However, there is a sense that Atlanta have strengthened key areas of the field, and the return of their legendary head coach will provide a boost. Therefore, an away win could upset the odds on Saturday.
