  • Pressure on Thomas Frank eased with a UCL win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday
  • Burnley sit eight points adrift from safety with 16 games remaining

Premier League action is set for Turf Moor on Jan 24, as relegation-threatened Burnley host out-of-sorts Tottenham.

The pressure was eased on Thomas Frank in midweek after Spurs gained a much-needed win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. However, the North London club remain winless in their last five domestically.

Time could be running out for Burnley in the top-flight, as they remain eight points from safety. But, confidence could be gained after playing out draws in their last two.

Games Running Out For Parker’s Burnley

The tide will need to turn in Burnley’s favor soon if they are to have a fighting chance to avoid the drop.

Scott Parker’s side have won just three of their 22 games this season, but they have played out credible draws against Liverpool and Manchester United across their last five.

However, wins are required to get them within striking distance of safety. It would be a notable concern that they have failed to win in their last 13 in the league, which is their longest winless run since March 2017. Parker will be without key players such as Maxime Esteve, Zian Flemming, and Connor Roberts this week.

Spurs Aiming to Build on UCL Win

Thomas Frank’s long-term future at Tottenham remains up in the air, but huge confidence would have been gained from a 2-0 Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

Dominic Solanke scored on his return to the starting eleven, and his fitness could be vital following the recent injury to Richarlison. However, domestic form is still a concern for Tottenham, as they have gone five without a win.

Meanwhile, they have lost four of their last eight games against teams starting the day in the relegation zone. That includes a shock 2-1 home loss against West Ham last Saturday. Mohammed Kudus, James Maddison, and Dejan Kulusevski all remain out due to injury.

Possible Lineup
(4-2-3-1) Vicario (GK); Porro, van de Ven, Romero, Udogie; Bergvall, Gallagher; Odobert, Simons, Spence; Solanke

Burnley vs. Tottenham Picks

Tottenham are an incredibly difficult team to trust this season, but the confidence gained from their midweek win could be vital.

It is also worth noting that they have gone 13 away games without defeat against promoted teams, and have also won six of their last seven against the Clarets.
