- Arsenal recovered from an EPL setback with a 4-0 win at Leeds last weekend
- Sunderland have won two of their last three EPL fixtures
Mikel Arteta’s title-chasing Arsenal are back in action this weekend, as they chase a third competitive win in a week when they host Sunderland.
The Gunners have responded excellently to losing against Man United, winning each of their last three, which includes a comfortable EFL Cup semi-final success over Chelsea in midweek.
However, Sunderland are hard to overlook based on their performances this season, and confidence levels should be high after winning two of their last three.

Gunners Hoping to Open Up Nine-Point Advantage
Arsenal could open their advantage at the top of the Premier League standings to nine points this weekend. The Gunners have been dominant in home matches throughout the season, with the only exception coming in their defeat against Man United last month.
However, the North London side have avoided defeat in their last 43 matches against promoted sides at the Emirates Stadium. A key asset to their game this term has been their prowess from corners.
The Gunners have already scored 14 goals from the set-piece, meaning that they are just two goals away from the record. Bukayo Saka is expected to miss out this week due to injury.

Sunderland Continue to Exceed Expectations
Sunderland were heavily favored to suffer relegation before a ball was kicked this season, but they come into this round of matches sitting eighth in the standings and within four points of the top five.
Notably, they are also just four points shy of the magic 40-point tally, which typically ensures safety. The Black Cats have won two of their last three, but their away record would be a major concern this weekend. Sunderland have failed to win in their last seven away matches in the Premier League since a 2-1 win at Chelsea.
Remarkably, they could become the first promoted team to ever win road matches against the Blues and Arsenal in the same season this weekend. The influential Granit Xhaka is a big miss.

Arsenal vs. Sunderland Picks
Sunderland claimed a well-deserved draw in the reverse fixture against Arsenal earlier this season, but it is likely to be a tougher ask to repeat that performance at the Emirates. The Black Cats are winless in their last seven on the road, and they have failed to win in 18 previous trips to Arsenal since a victory in November 1983.
