It has been an excellent festive period for Mikel Arteta and his team. The Gunners have won each of their last five fixtures to open up a six-point advantage over Man City at the top of the Premier League standings.
Liverpool’s hold on the Premier League title already looks to be over, but they are in pole position for a Champions League spot despite having played out draws in their last two.

Arsenal could open their advantage at the summit up to nine points this week should Man City suffer a shock home loss against Brighton on Wednesday.
Everything appears to be going in Arsenal’s favor at this stage of the campaign, as they have recorded the most wins, and the fewest defeats. Declan Rice was the star of the show on his return to the starting eleven at Bournemouth last Saturday, netting an excellent second-half brace.
Home form is a big plus for their chances this week, as the Gunners have recorded wins in each of their last seven at the Emirates.

Arne Slot has turned the tide back in his favor at Liverpool in recent weeks. The Reds have won three of their last five in the Premier League, and they currently hold a three-point advantage over both Chelsea and Man United in the race for fourth.
The reigning champions come into this clash following draws in each of their last two, which included a dramatic tie in their latest outing against Fulham. Their record on the road may be a slight concern this week, as the Reds have allowed an average of 1.8 goals per game.
However, Cody Gakpo has been a specialist on the road for the team, scoring three times on his last four trips to London.

Liverpool recorded a win in the previous meeting between the sides, marking the 26th time that the Gunners had lost to the Reds in the Premier League. However, the fact that this fixture is set for the Emirates is key.
