The intense action in the MLS Playoffs gets underway this weekend, as a first-round clash between the Whitecaps and FC Dallas is set for Vancouver on Oct 26.
Vancouver ended the regular season with a defeat against their opponents this weekend. However, their overall form throughout 2025 deserves respect, and their quality ensures that they will be a leading MLS Cup contender.
FC Dallas secured their spot in the playoffs on the final day of the season. However, no team involved in the Western Conference playoffs picked up fewer victories in 2025.

It has been a season to remember for the Vancouver Whitecaps after finishing second in the Western Conference standings.
The Caps had won each of their last three games across all competitions before a loss against FC Dallas last Saturday. However, it could be worth noting that they were forced to play with ten men in that defeat for 80 minutes.
Despite the defeat, the Caps have won ten of their 17 home matches in 2025, scoring a remarkable 42 goals.
FC Dallas ended the regular season on a positive note after recording a shock 2-1 win in Vancouver.
That was the perfect response after losing in Los Angeles against the Galaxy on the penultimate day. Dallas will once again deploy a counter-attacking style of play.
But, it could be challenging to foresee Vancouver being as wasteful as they were in last weekend's defeat. However, confidence could be gained from the fact that Dallas have won 29% of their away games in 2025.
