The stage is set for the MLS Playoffs, and a fascinating opening match in round one is set for Philadelphia, as the Union host the Chicago Fire.
Philadelphia enjoyed a sensational regular season, topping the Eastern Conference standings after winning 20 of their 34 games. Only Inter Miami suffered fewer defeats throughout the regular campaign.
Chicago Fire were forced to wait to secure their spot in the playoffs, as they needed to overcome Orlando City in the wild card round. However, their attacking quality could ensure that they are underestimated by many in the playoffs.

It has been a memorable season for the Philadelphia Union. They have quickly put their disappointing 2024 campaign behind them, topping the Eastern Conference for the third time in six seasons.
Despite a defeat on the final day of the season, the Union have recorded wins without conceding in three of their last four matches.
Meanwhile, they have been excellent in home matches throughout the season, winning 12 of their 17 matches, and scoring an eye-catching 2.12 goals per game.
The Chicago Fire are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2017. It has been the Fire's best season in the MLS since that campaign, winning 15 of their 34 games.
Their recent form has also been reliable after avoiding defeat in their last six matches. Their playoff spot was secured in midweek after battling to an excellent 3-1 win over Orlando City.
Hugo Cuypers was a standout performer in the win, netting twice. Their attacking quality deserves respect this weekend, as the Fire have scored an impressive 2.03 goals per game this season.

This could be the most interesting first-round series in the Playoffs. The Union have won their last two against the Fire, but Chicago have been excellent on the road throughout the season.
They have won 53% of their matches, scoring an impressive 2.53 goals per game. I like the chances of Chicago to surpass expectations in the post-season. Therefore, they could seize a game one advantage on Sunday.
