The MLS Playoffs take centre stage in North America across the next week, and the opening game between LAFC and Austin FC is set for Oct 29.
LAFC ended the regular season in disappointing form after going two without a defeat. However, they had won six on the bounce before their loss against Austin FC on Oct 12.
Austin FC will take huge confidence from their performances in the MLS this season. They achieved a sixth-place finish after going 13-8-13.

LAFC will undeniably be among the leading contenders to win the MLS Cup in 2025.
The Californian team have won six of their last eight games, with their only defeat across that period coming when they were without a number of first-team stars during the international break.

Austin FC will be playing in the playoffs for the second straight season. However, they will be bidding to avenge their first-round finish in 2024 this term.
Austin FC come into the playoffs after winning just once across their last three matches. Meanwhile, they have suffered defeats in two fixtures across that period.
Their regular-season campaign ended in defeat against San Jose last Saturday. Despite that, Austin FC have been an attacking force on the road throughout 2025, scoring an average of 1.12 goals per game.
