CONCACAF Gold Cup Leading Contenders

Mexico

The reigning CONCACAF Gold Cup champions will be a leading chance across the United States and Canada once again this summer. Javier Aguirre’s side have won the Gold Cup on 12 previous occasions, and their confidence levels will be high after winning the CONCACAF Nations League for the first time earlier this year.

Mexico’s recent form is also exceptionally strong after winning four of their last five internationals, with their only defeat coming in an unofficial friendly against River Plate in late January.

USA

The pressure will be on the USA this summer, as Mauricio Pochettino aims to fine tune his squad ahead of the home World Cup next year. The USA have won the Gold Cup on seven occasions, but their grip on the Nations League ended earlier this year.

An improved showing at the Gold Cup will be expected this summer after suffering an early exit in the semi-finals in 2023. However, it would be a concern that the U.S. have lost their last two competitive internationals, with the latest of those coming against Canada in March.

Canada

Jesse Marsch has done an excellent job since taking the Canada job, and there is hope within the camp that they could achieve something special in their home World Cup next year.

Canada finished third in the recent Nations League, beating the U.S. in their latest outing. Canada seem to improve when they are in the environment of international competition, which was reflected only last summer after surpassing expectations to finish fourth at the Copa America.

An Outsider Worth Considering

There is a wide-open feel to Group C, with all four nations hopeful of topping the group. However, Jamaica have progressed well under the stewardship of Steve McClaren, and they could upset a few this summer.

Jamaica reached the CONCACAF Gold Cup semi-finals in 2023, marking the fourth time in five editions that they have reached that stage. The nation have also been in strong form this year after avoiding defeat in all six of their internationals.

CONCACAF Gold Cup Outright Winner Pick

All the pressure will be on the three host nations for next summer’s World Cup. Canada has been the team that has progressed most faultlessly since the appointment of a big-name coach, and they will field a strong squad for the competition this summer.

Despite being a slightly bigger price in the betting, they could upset the applecart and register a second success at the CONCACAF Gold Cup this year.
