One of the world’s most famous motorsport events is set for May 25, 2025, as the Indianapolis 500 will be held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The world-famous Indy 500 will be staged on the last Sunday in May, as the field look to add their names to the history books by completing the 500-mile race distance in the fastest time. It has been a standout event on the motorsport calendar since 1911, with some of the most famous drivers having claimed success.

Josef Newgarden became one of the few drivers to land back-to-back wins in the race, and he could make further history this year by achieving a three-peat. No driver has ever won the race in three straight years.

However, Alex Palou will be a red-hot favorite for the race this year. The Spanish driver has been in dominant form in the Indy Car Series in 2025, winning three of the four races so far this season. His best finish in the race to this point was a fourth-place finish in 2023.

Kyle Larson will also be on double duty, as he will contest the Indy 500, as well as the scheduled race on the NASCAR Cup Series. He finished a respectable 18th on his first appearance in the race in 2024, and he will likely be a popular selection once again this year.

Pato O’Ward could also be an interesting contender in the race this year. The Mexican has been consistent in the Indy Car Series after finishing on the podium once in four starts. His record in the Indy 500 is excellent after finishing second in two of the last three editions.

We like the chances of Australian driver Scott McLaughlin this year. The Aussie has finished in the top ten in all but one of the four Indy Series races this season, and he comes into this year’s event after an excellent sixth place finish in 2024.
