Germany has played well in their three games to date, but a response will be required after a 5-1 loss to the USA on MD3 in Group A.
France have shown little to this point in the competition, falling to three straight defeats to finish bottom of the Group A standings.

Germany upset the odds to win silver at the 2018 Winter Olympics, but based on their performances at the Games this year, they are unlikely to replicate that feat.
The nation won one of their three Group C games, with their only victory coming in a shock victory over Denmark on MD1. Since that defeat, they have lost successive games against Latvia and the USA, conceding nine goals and scoring just four.
Their attacking quality could be vital in this challenge against France, but their poor defensive record could be detrimental to their hopes of a medal.
France have been outclassed during the tournament in Milan, which is hardly surprising as one of the lowest-ranked nations in the competition.
Yorick Treille’s side suffered defeats in all three of their Group A gams, scoring a tournament-low five goals. Heavy losses against Switzerland and Canada bookended their opening round, shipping ten in a morale-deflating loss in Milan on Sunday against Canada.
This year’s Games are a building block ahead of their home Olympics in four years, but their journey is expected to end on Tuesday.

Germany have underperformed defensively at the Games, but their strong offense could prove crucial against a weak opponent on Tuesday. We fully expect the Germans to book their spot in the next round, where they will face Slovakia for a spot in the semi-finals.
