Denmark performed better than their opening-round results suggested, winning 4-2 against Latvia on MD3 to secure a spot in the playoffs.
Their rivals on Tuesday also showed a high level of performance when winning once in three Group A games, and they will be widely expected to overcome a talented Danish side in Milan.

Czechia will be the clear favorites to secure a spot in the next round, despite winning just one of their three Group A games. That form saw them finish third in the standings, with their only victory coming against France.
Defensively, they will need to improve if they have medal hopes, allowing 12 in three group stage games.
However, it is worth noting that they were slightly unfortunate to lose out on second in Group A after losing 4-3 in overtime against Switzerland on Sunday.
Mikael Gath will be aware that his Denmark side will be the outsiders to progress further than the playoff round in this year’s Winter Olympics.
The Danes are currently ranked eighth in the world, but they could record only one win in three Group C games. Despite that, they showed a high-level of ability in a thriller against the U.S. on Saturday, scoring three times in the 6-3 loss.
Their spot in the playoffs was assured on Sunday, edging to an important win over Latvia in Milan.

Czechia’s poor defensive record is notable this week. Therefore, a chance could be taken on Denmark to upset the odds, if they are able to reach the same level of performance that threatened an upset against the U.S. on Saturday. It is worth noting that Denmark won the only previous Winter Olympics clash between these sides in 2022.
