It has been a strong season to this point for the LA Kings, and they are within touching distance of the playoff spots in the Western Conference.
The Kings have gone 18-14-9 in the NHL this season, and they have the best defensive record in the Pacific Division. They have regained their consistency in recent weeks after winning each of their last two games, ending a run of six defeats in eight.
The Kings were last in action earlier this week, claiming a 4-2 home success against the Minnesota Wild.

The San Jose Sharks will still have playoff aspirations of their own at this stage of the season. They come into this round of games sitting fifth in the Pacific Division, having gone 21-18-3 in the NHL this season.
They have been one of the eye-catching offensive teams, netting the third-most goals in the division. Their consistency has also been impressive after winning six of their previous ten. Last time out, they landed a 5-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
