Interesting NHL action is set for Nationwide Arena on Jan 3, as the in-form Buffalo Sabres go in search of an eleventh straight win against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
It has been an electric period for the Sabres, as they have climbed to fourth in the Atlantic Division after winning each of their last ten games.
It has been a contrasting period for the Blue Jackets, as they remain at the foot of the Metropolitan Division after suffering six regulation time defeats in their last ten.
It has been a testing period for the Columbus Blue Jackets, as they continue to sit at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division.
They have gone 4-6-0 over their last ten, and no side in the division have allowed more goals so far this term. They come into this clash after suffering more misery in their latest outing after losing at home against the NJ Devils earlier this week.
It was a capitulation by the Blue Jackets in that clash, as they conceded three times in the final period. Confidence can be gained from their overall home record this season, going 8-7-3 at the Nationwide Arena.

No team in the NHL is currently on a longer winning sequence than the Buffalo Sabres.
They will bring massive confidence into this clash after winning each of their last ten. Buffalo currently sit fourth in the Atlantic Division standings, but they could climb closer to the top three with a win on Saturday.
They dominated once again in their latest outing after landing a 4-1 win on the road against the Dallas Stars. Tage Thompson was the standout performer in that success, scoring twice and adding one assist.
