Friday night action is set for the NHL on March 20, as the struggling Toronto Maple Leafs host the Carolina Hurricanes.
Toronto come into this game after going 2-5-3 over their last ten, while the Canes have been very consistent, winning six times over the same period.
It has been an extremely disappointing season in the NHL for the Maple Leafs.
They look set to miss out on a playoff spot at this stage of the season, and they come into this home game on Friday evening following a 3-1 loss at the Scotiabank against the NY Islanders last time out.
Despite that, Craig Berube's team have been more consistent in home games this term, going 17-11-7 compared to a record of 12-16-5 on the road. William Nylander leads the team in points, racking up 63.
It has been a contrasting story for the Carolina Hurricanes in 2025-26, as they have been red-hot in the Metropolitan Division.
At present, they sit top of the standings, and their reliable form has sustained over their previous ten, winning on six occasions. Their most recent win was a thrilling 6-5 overtime success against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday.
Jackson Blake ended the night with a goal and two assists. Seth Jarvis leads the franchise with 28 goals.

It has been a struggle for the Maple Leafs this season, while the Canes are cruising in the Eastern Conference. Therefore, a win for Carolina is preferred, and it is worth noting that they have won 54% of the previous head-to-heads between the sides.
