Competitive action in the Eastern Conference is set for the Nationwide Arena on Jan 24, as in-form Tampa Bay Lightning travel to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Tampa have been the standout team in the East across recent weeks, and confidence levels should be high after winning nine of their last ten.
Columbus also have a winning record over their last ten, winning on five occasions.
The Columbus Blue Jackets will have the important home ice advantage this week, as they chase a second straight win. The Blue Jackets have accumulated a winning record this term, going 23-20-7 in their 50 games.
However, their defensive record would be a worry in the context of their playoff challenge after allowing 164 goals.
But, they showed excellent defensive quality in their latest outing, beating the Dallas Stars 1-0 on Thursday. Zach Werenski scored the winning goal.
At this stage, the Tampa Bay Lightning could be considered the outstanding team in the Eastern Conference. No team in the East have recorded more wins than the Lightning over their last ten, with Tampa registering nine victories.
Meanwhile, their defensive structure should be applauded, as they have allowed an Atlantic Division-low of 121 goals.
The Lightning continued their red-hot run of form earlier this week, as they cruised to a 4-1 success against the San Jose Sharks. Brandon Hagel was the star performer, scoring twice and adding one assist.

Everything points toward this being another successful venture on the road for the Lightning on Saturday. Tampa have excelled at both ends of the ice this season, and they have won 51% of their road games against the Blue Jackets.
