The New York Islanders bid to keep their playoff dreams alive on March 24, as they host the out-of-form Chicago Blackhawks.
The Islanders have won five of their previous ten games, and they will be targeting a second straight win on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Blackhawks have dropped to the bottom of the Central Division after losing two on the bounce.
Patrick Roy’s New York Islanders still have playoff aspirations in 2025-26. They come into this clash after going 39-25-5 in the NHL this season, as they sit fourth in the Metropolitan Division.
Confidence should also be high after winning five of their last ten, which includes a recent win on home ice against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
In a low-scoring affair, Bo Horvat’s effort in the opening period was enough to separate the teams. Home advantage has been a key strength for the Islanders in 2025-26, going 18-11-2 at UBS Arena.
Jeff Blashill’s Chicago will be playing for pride on Tuesday, as their hopes of a playoff finish appear to be incredibly slim at this stage.
The Blackhawks sit at the bottom of the Central Division, having gone 26-31-13 this term. But, their recent form is most alarming, winning three of their last ten, and losing seven times. Chicago have also suffered losses in each of their previous two.
Their most recent defeat was suffered at the United Center on Sunday, allowing a 2-1 advantage to slip against the Nashville Predators before losing in overtime.

Confidence will be low within the Blackhawks camp following their poor run of form. Therefore, the Islanders look to be the logical angle worth following on Tuesday. The Islanders have won 47% of their home games against the Blackhawks in regulation time.
