  • Buffalo Sabres saw their long winning run ended in the NHL on Monday
  • Philadelphia Flyers have suffered defeats in each of their last three

Two teams that will be aiming for a return to winning ways in the Eastern Conference will collide on Jan 14, as the Buffalo Sabres host the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Sabres saw their long winning sequence ended on Monday evening, but they remain in a prominent position to challenge for a playoff spot in the Atlantic Division after winning eight of their last ten.

Meanwhile, the Flyers remain third in the Metropolitan Division, but confidence levels are likely to be low after suffering defeats in each of their last three games.

Sabres Favored to Resume Winning Ways

It has been a strong season so far for the Buffalo Sabres, and they should still have leading playoff claims under the stewardship of Lindy Ruff.

The Sabres had won eight on the bounce back Monday’s game against the Florida Panthers, but despite losing, they lost little in the loss due to an impressive performance.

Buffalo showed their offensive quality in the defeat, with Alex Tuch, Jacob Bryson, and Zach Benson all scoring in the 4-3 loss. Playing at home is also a plus for their chances on Tuesday after going 14-6-2 at KeyBank Center in 2025-26.

Flyers in Poor Recent Form

There is likely to be increased pressure on Rick Tocchet and his Philadelphia Flyers team on Tuesday.

They come into this round of games sitting third in the Metropolitan Division, but they have struggled for form in recent weeks after losing their last three. Trevor Zegras has been a standout performer for the team this season, scoring a team-high 17 goals and an overall haul of 41 points.

A big response will be required on Wednesday following a heavy 4-1 home loss against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday. But, they have caught the eye on the road this season after winning ten of their 20 games.

Flyers vs. Sabres Picks

This should present the Sabres with an excellent chance to avenge their Monday loss against the Panthers. Buffalo’s form since the start of December has been red-hot, while they have recorded wins in 52% of their previous home games with the Flyers.
