Eastern Conference action in the NHL is slated for April 2, as the Detroit Red Wings bid to snap a losing run when they travel to the Philadelphia Flyers.
Despite a poor run of results, the Red Wings remain in playoff contention. The Flyers will also be aiming to bounce back from a recent loss in the NHL.
Rick Tocchet’s Philadelphia Flyers remain in a promising position to achieve a playoff spot, as they sit fifth in the Metropolitan Division after going 37-25-12 in the NHL. The Flyers have shown reliable form across their last ten, recording seven wins, and suffering just two defeats in regulation.
They showed defensive weakness in their most recent outing, losing 6-4 on the road against the Washington Capitals. Travis Konecny was a strong performer despite the defeat, registering two assists, while goals were scored by Christian Dvorak, Travis Sanheim, and Carl Grundstrom.

Todd McLellan has his Detroit Red Wings in a promising position in the Eastern Conference, but their playoff prospects will revolve around their performances at the end of the campaign. Detroit currently sit sixth in the Atlantic Division, but their recent form would be a major concern.
The Red Wings have suffered successive defeats, and they have lost six times in regulation across their previous ten. A damaging loss was inflicted on Tuesday, as they were beaten 5-1 on the road by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
