Cross-conference action is set for Ball Arena on Jan 23, as the Colorado Avalanche host the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Avalanche have been the standout team in the NHL this season, winning the most games to sit top of the Western Conference standings.
Meanwhile, the Flyers will still have playoff aspirations of their own at this stage. But, they will need to bounce back after losing five of their last ten in regulation.
There is no denying that the Colorado Avalanche have been the dominant force in the NHL this season, but their form has dipped in recent weeks.
The Avalanche have suffered three regulation defeats in their last ten games, and they have recorded wins in five games over the same period.
Despite that, Colorado still have the best attacking and defensive records in the Western Conference. However, they were beaten in a dramatic shootout by the Anaheim Ducks in their latest outing.
The standings still make for good reading for the Philadelphia Flyers, as they sit fourth in the Metropolitan Division.
However, their overall recent form does raise questions. They have won just three of their last ten, and they have suffered regulation defeats in five games over the same period.
Only the NY Rangers have recorded fewer victories over their previous ten. The Flyers will also need to pick themselves up following a disappointing overtime defeat against the Utah Mammoth on Wednesday.
