Canes Within Touching Distance of Playoffs

The first part of the challenge for Rod Brind’Amour is almost complete, as the Canes are within a couple of wins of securing their spot in the post-season.

Carolina have been in excellent form throughout the season at Lenovo Center, winning 26 of their 36 games. However, a return to form will be required after losing 5-2 against the Montreal Canadiens last time out.

The Canes started strong in that clash, scoring twice in the opening frame, before they conceded two goals in each of the second and third periods.

Devils Showing Strong Form

Sheldon Keefe’s Devils already look out of the playoff race at this stage of the season, going 32-31-2 overall this term.

However, plenty of positives can be drawn from their recent performances, as they have won seven of their last ten. No side in the Metropolitan Division have recorded more wins over the same period.

The Devils showcased their best form in midweek, as they beat the Dallas Stars 6-4. New Jersey started the stronger of the teams, scoring four in the opening period. Jack Hughes was in inspired form, scoring twice.
