NHL action is set for Centre Bell on Jan 7, as the in-form Montreal Canadiens chase back-to-back wins when they host the Calgary Flames. Find our picks for the clash here.
It has been a productive period in the NHL for the Canadiens, as they have climbed the Eastern Conference standings after winning six of their previous ten.
Meanwhile, the Flames continue to stutter in the Western Conference. They come into this clash after losing each of their last two to remain near the foot of the Pacific Division.
The Montreal Canadiens will be back in front of their own fans on Wednesday, as they chase a second straight win. They come into this round sitting third in the Atlantic Division, and within two points of the summit.
Montreal have a strong winning record in the NHL this season, and that has continued across their last ten after winning on six occasions. Furthermore, they have suffered just two defeats in regulation time.
They come into this clash following a strong win on the road against the Dallas Stars. Lane Hutson and Juraj Slafkovsky both recorded a goal and an assist in that overtime win.

The Calgary Flames will be on the road this week, as they go in search of a much-needed win to end a two-game losing run. Calgary still have a winning record over their last ten, winning on six occasions.
However, they have been too easy to beat in regulation time this season, losing on 20 occasions, which includes four in their previous ten.
The Flames were well beaten in their latest game, suffering a 5-1 humbling at home against the Seattle Kraken. Adam Klapka had given the Flames the advantage in the opening period, but they struggled in the following two frames.

The Canadiens have been largely reliable in the NHL this season, and they could move to the top of their respective division before the end of the week. Their strong home advantage gives them the upper hand on Wednesday, and we fully expect them to come out on top against the Flames.
