The Detroit Red Wings have been one of the eye-catching teams in the NHL so far this season.
They have gone 9-5-0 across their opening 14 games, and they sit second in the Atlantic Division. The Red Wings have thrived as an offensive unit, scoring 44 goals.
However, a response will be required on Friday following a 1-0 loss on the road against the Vegas Golden Knights. Detroit failed to make an impression offensively in that clash, but this week's clash presents a perfect opportunity to respond.
The New York Rangers would have been considered a leading playoff hope in the Eastern Conference before the start of the season.
However, they have struggled to accumulate wins. One of their main issues has been scoring goals, as they have netted an Eastern Conference-low of 31 across their opening 14 games.
They also come into this week's clash having gone 4-4-2 across their last ten. The Rangers were extremely disappointing in a 3-0 home loss against the Carolina Hurricanes earlier this week.
