A busy period on the NHL schedule continues for the Detroit Red Wings, and their middle game in a three-game stretch sees them take on the Edmonton Oilers.
The Red Wings will be in action on Friday against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and fatigue could play a role this weekend. Meanwhile, the Oilers will be chasing a response after a recent defeat against the New York Islanders.

Fatigue is likely to play a role for the Detroit Red Wings this weekend, as they play the Lightning on Friday before a clash with the Oilers on Sunday.
The Red Wings have been reliable at the start of the new season, as indicated by winning each of their last three.
Their excellent form continued earlier this week after registering a dominant 4-1 success against the Florida Panthers. Mason Appleton was a standout star in the win after scoring twice.
There is likely to be pressure on the Oilers this weekend, as they play on back-to-back nights against the Devils and Red Wings.
They will be aiming to rebuild their confidence after suffering a first regulation-time loss of the campaign on Thursday after going down to the New York Islanders.
Edmonton were made to pay for a sloppy final period after conceding twice in the third frame. Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins ended the night with goals for the Oilers.
