The pressure continues to increase in the NHL on Tuesday, as two sides aiming for a much-needed victory collide.
Washington's solid start to the new season continued on Sunday following a road win against the NY Rangers, while the Tampa Bay Lightning have lost each of their opening two games this term. You can find the odds and our Lightning vs. Capitals picks here.

The Washington Capitals will be boosted by having home ice advantage this Tuesday, as they bid to record a third win in four games at the start of the new season.
They had made an excellent start to the 2025-26 campaign, winning two of their opening three games. They will also come into this showdown after winning each of their previous two.
On Sunday, they registered a hard-fought success against the NY Rangers, with Antony Beauvillier netting the winner in the second period. Charlie Lindgren was the standout performer in the Capitals' goal, making 35 saves.
The alarm bells could be sounding by the time the Lightning take to the ice on Tuesday.
Tampa will play on Monday evening in Boston, and defeat in that clash could see them come into this road game after going 0-3-0. The Lightning have been defensively weak across the opening week of the season, allowing ten goals in defeats against the Senators and Devils.
Darren Raddysh, Ryan McDonagh, and Yanni Gourdi scored the goals for the Lightning in a recent 5-3 loss against the Devils.
These two sides come into this Tuesday clash in contrasting runs of form, and that would be a major concern for the away team. The Capitals have been reliable at both ends of the ice across the opening week of the new season, and their momentum could continue to build with a home success over the Lightning.
