The Carolina Hurricanes will be aiming to get their form back on track following a rare defeat in their latest outing. Despite that, Carolina remains the leader in the Metropolitan Division.
Meanwhile, the Buffalo Sabres have endured a damaging start to the campaign. At present, they are bottom of the Atlantic Division.
It has been a largely disappointing start to the NHL season for the Buffalo Sabres, as they sit bottom of the Atlantic Division.
They have gone just 7-9-4 across their opening 20 games, and wins have continued to be a rarity in recent weeks after winning just three of their last ten.
The Sabres have suffered regulation-time defeats in half of their last ten games. A busy weekend of action for the Sabres also includes a home game against the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday evening.
The increased pressure is likely to be on the Carolina Hurricanes this weekend, as they chase a return to form following a shootout loss last week.
Despite that defeat, the Hurricanes remain top of the Metropolitan Division, and they have won six of their last ten in the NHL.
They have proven to be one of the most difficult to beat teams in the NHL across their last ten, losing just twice in regulation. Furthermore, they are the highest scorers in the Eastern Conference at this stage of the season.
