The Seattle Kraken have endured a challenging start to life in the NHL after missing out on the playoffs in each of the last two seasons.
Despite showing some promise under Dan Bylsma last term, the Kraken would eventually finish 13th in the Western Conference standings.
A poor record on the road would ultimately be costly to their playoff aspirations, going 17-23-1. In home games, the Kraken ended the campaign with an 18-18-5 record.
There will also be a fresh feel surrounding the Anaheim Ducks this season, as Joel Quenneville has been appointed the new head coach.
Last season was ultimately a huge disappointment for the Ducks, as they finished sixth in the Pacific Division, and 12th in the overall Western Conference standings. They would excel in home games, going 21-18-2.
However, the Ducks were largely disappointing on the road, winning just 14 of their games. Their results last term mean that they have now missed out on the playoffs in each of the last seven seasons.
There is likely to be immediate pressure on both of the new coaches on display this week, and a winning start would at least promise hope of progression.
