The San Jose Sharks have been in poor form throughout the NHL season so far this term.
They currently sit seventh in the Pacific Division after accumulating a record of 2-6-2. Meanwhile, they come into this clash after a defeat in their latest outing against the Los Angeles Kings.
But, they showed some strong offensive quality in that defeat, scoring three times.
The New Jersey Devils have enjoyed a professional start to the NHL season. They currently sit top of the Metropolitan Division after winning eight of their opening ten games.
However, a response will be required this week following a heavy loss at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday.
The Devils conceded twice in the opening and final periods, and also allowed four goals in the second frame.
