The Capitals have suffered defeats in each of their last four games, and they remain bottom of the Metropolitan Division standings at this early stage.
The St. Louis Blues managed to end their losing streak in their latest outing. However, they have gone 2-6-2 across their last ten games in the NHL.

The Washington Capitals will have huge questions to answer this weekend, as they bid to snap a four-game losing streak.
They have still won five of their last ten games in the NHL, but at present, they sit at the foot of the Metropolitan Division.
The Capitals were last in action earlier this week, as they were edged out in a shootout by the Buffalo Sabres. Aliaksei Protas, Dylan Strome, and Sonny Milano all scored goals in the dramatic defeat.
The St. Louis Blues have also endured a miserable start to the campaign, as they have won just four of their opening 13 games.
Their poor form has continued across their last ten after winning just twice. However, the worst defensive side in the Central Division would have taken confidence from their latest outing after recording a win over the Edmonton Oilers.
Robert Thomas ended the night with a goal and an assist. Meanwhile, other goals were scored by Dalibor Dvorsky and Plus Suter.

The Capitals will have big questions to answer in front of their home fans on Wednesday evening.
