Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets remain toward the bottom of the Metropolitan Division, but they have recorded wins in each of their last two games in the NHL.
There will be big questions to answer this weekend for the reigning Stanley Cup champions, as the Florida Panthers have dropped to seventh in the Atlantic Division.
The Panthers have gone 12-12-2 in the NHL this season, and they have suffered defeats in each of their last four.
Their most recent defeat was suffered on home ice on Thursday, losing 2-1 following overtime against the Nashville Predators. Florida’s only goal in the loss was scored by Carter Verhaeghe.

It could be argued that the better form ahead of this clash is boasted by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
They come into this clash still sitting at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division, but they have recorded wins in each of their last two. Meanwhile, they have suffered just two regulation-time defeats in their last ten.
The Blue Jackets held their nerve in a dramatic shootout against the Detroit Red Wings in their latest outing, eventually coming through with a 6-5 success.

Something is amiss with the defending champions this season, and wins have been in short supply.
